Faycal Haggui endorses Trent Wotherspoon

February 19, 2018

Today NDP leadership candidate Trent Wotherspoon welcomed the endorsement of former Regina Gardiner Park candidate, economist, policy expert, and NDP Vice President Dr. Faycal Haggui.

“Trent is universally well-liked and respected and has built an impressive network with Indigenous peoples and newcomer groups that is necessary to make politics more inclusive in Saskatchewan,” said Haggui. “Trent is a champion for marginalized groups and visible minorities. He rarely takes credit for the significant change he brought to our party, but he played key role in making our party more representative and more inclusive. Trent is the one who encouraged me to start the first ever Cultural Diversity Committee in the NDP to represent visible minorities and new Canadians. Trent is also the one who asked me and many other diverse candidates to run for politics and get involved in our party.”

“Trent is a tested leader who is ready to bring compassion back into politics. Now, more than ever, we need a leader who will fight for the voiceless and the forgotten and can unite our party to defeat the Sask. Party in 2020.”

“I’m honoured to receive the endorsement of Faycal Haggui at this important time for our party and our province,” said Wotherspoon. “Faycal understands that our party needs to reflect the incredible diversity of our province, and I’m thrilled and thankful to have his support in this leadership race as we build to win in 2020 and realize the full potential of our province’s motto: from many peoples, strength.”
