October 5, 2107

Today NDP Leadership candidate Trent Wotherspoon kicked off his campaign in a packed hall at The Artesian in his hometown of Regina and welcomed the support of Regina Elphinstone Centre MLA Warren McCall and Prince Albert Northcote MLA Nicole Rancourt.

Wotherspoon noted that his campaign has already committed to introducing universal $15 per day childcare and universal coverage for mental health, with more announcements to come over the course of the campaign.

“I first met Trent shortly after he was elected a decade ago. Working as a social worker in Prince Albert, I was blown away by his kind heart and his enthusiasm,” said Nicole Rancourt, MLA for Prince Albert Northcote. “I’ve seen his strength as a leader in the Legislature and out across the province, and I know that he’s the right choice for leader of our party.”

MLAs supporting Wotherspoon for the leadership of the NDP include:

  • Warren McCall, House Leader and MLA for Regina Elphinstone Centre
  • Nicole Rancourt, Deputy Whip and MLA for Prince Albert Northcote
  • Carla Beck, Deputy House Leader and MLA for Regina Lakeview
  • Danielle Chartier, MLA for Saskatoon Riversdale
